Welcome to your empowered birth journey!
My name is Bonnie Slater
Since 1996, I’ve had the honor of guiding over 800 families through the transformative journey of childbirth as a birth doula. Supporting families through the raw emotions of new parenthood and the profound experience of welcoming new life has been a lifestyle I am proud to have lived. My work has taken me to 12 different hospitals, birth centers, and countless homes across Boulder, Colorado. Over the years, I've built incredible connections with amazing parents, nurses, midwifes, families and doulas. It fills me with gratitude to be a part of the team that helps create each family's birth story. My heart is full when I've made a positive impact. Doula work is a lifestyle that I love.
In addition to my traditional hospital doula support, I am proud to be on the handpicked doula team of the only birth center in Boulder, Boulder Birth Holistic Health. I also teach childbirth classes at the birth center monthly and in the privacy of families homes. I’ve served as a midwifery assistant in three ob-gyn/midwifery offices. My background in communication along with my experience in end-of-life care, allows me to build deep, meaningful connections with families during this vulnerable and transformative time.
In 2020, I combined my love for birth, babies, and connection. And created a birth doula training program. I will be teaching again starting in 2027 the program offers a three-day immersive experience for women interested in the birthing process. Many women have taken the course during their pregnancy. Teaching the art of doula work brings me immense joy and fulfillment.
In my personal time, I enjoy hiking Boulder where I grew up. I can be found laughing over coffee with friends, practicing yoga, spending time with my two children. I look forward to hearing about your pregnancy journey and birth wishes.

Just as a woman's heart knows how and when to pump, her lungs to inhale, and her hand to pull back from fire, so she knows when and how to give birth.

“Bonnie and I have worked together, side by side, for many years. We have supported women and their partners in labor and birth at all hours of the day and night. I have never seen someone with more passion and love for being with women in labor than Bonnie. She is healthy, supportive and enthusiastic. She gives encouragement when it is needed most and she is also very honest and realistic when the birth plan needs to make a change for a healthy outcome for mom and baby. You could not be in better doula hands with Bonnie at your side. She is also an amazing photographer and women cherish their birth photos taken by their doula! Her pure energy is a light of sunshine and a gift to the birth community. Thank you Bonnie for all that you have done for women and continue to do!”
